In terms of Project „Youth for Democracy” youth are appealed to write an essay about different aspects of democracy. The aim of the competition is to make youth think about society where we all live in, evaluate processes of democracy and also propose creative ideas for positive changes.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it until the 5th of October about three main topics: How youth can change the world? How should look society in democratic country? Mass media and society – how does media influences freedom of choice? Each can choose the most suitable topic for itself and share thoughts, critics and proposals with wider audience.
Essays will be evaluated by the participants of project „Youth for Democracy” and also teachers from Latvian and Lithuanian schools. The main criterions of evaluations will be quality of content and usefulness of recommendations. The best essay will be published on www.tvweb-lv.eu and authors will be rewarded with valuable presents from supporters of the competitions: publishing house „Zvaigzne ABC”, Cinema „Cinamon”, subscription agency „SPKS” and cafe „Don Donulis”.
About the project:
The project „Youth for democracy” (March – December Year 2010) is an international project which is being realized in 2 EU member states – Latvia and Lithuania. The main targets of the project are promote youth partnership in the mechanisms of representative democracy on the national and Europe level, to find out thought of youth related positive changes in the politics and also compare youth outlook to the policy related issues in Latvia and Lithuania by stimulating bilateral cooperation.
Main activities are: 8 discussions un schools on the issue of project themes with participation of decision makers, filming 12 video reportages on democracy issues and unloading them to the portal www.tvweb.eu, common youth meeting in Vilnius for role games in simulating ES institution activity and decision making process, e-discussions in the portal about democracy and video reportages, essay competition in LV and LT schools, Youth Forum in Riga, drafting of recommendations for positive changes in democracy process and submitting them to decision makers, filming most of activities and uploading them in the portal, producing informational package (DVDs and booklets) for disseminating them in 500 LV and LT schools.
In the terms of project are collaborating four organizations: NEXT MEDIA GROUP; House; Nendre, KAKAVA.
